The end...
In a way of conclusion of my portfolio, I would like to write about my experience in teaching to reflect my achievement on how I had grown-up in this field.
I started to teach from my first semester at the university, to groups of children, but this wasn't something from the university. I had to apply what I had been learning doing community service to pay a scholarship from the government, so I didn't know how to teach well because I still hadn't started with those kinds of subjects, I just knew to be kind with them and simply teach vocabulary with some ICTs. All this has been being for years, as time went on, in college, I improved my way of teaching, but never as I wanted.
When I finish it, I started to teach to two siblings and because it was on my last semester I had more experience, so I did it better, even though I needed to improve somethings that with the time and thanks to my pedagogical practices, I could improve and learn better about how to teach.
With all this little experience, I think I have learned very well of how to teach in a significant way, I learn how to know my students, where and how to find accurate features to teach, because I focused on every part, on everything I did, every mistake, everything I didn't like, everything I realized I was missing. I was able to concentrate and review each part that made me think I didn't know how to teach, each part that made me think "how do I start?"
At first, I didn't know how to start teaching, but I already learned.
I could realize that as English teacher-learners, we need to focus more on what we want for our career, I mean, we can't think on this learning as if were the one of school that we paid attention to the lesson if we want, we learn if we want and so on; we need to concentrate to learn, because that's what we'll give to our students, on this occasion our learning is not going to stay just with us, we will bring that to others, so we need to learn and improve it with the time to so, give significant knowledge and significant learning experience to our students; this also will guarantee our reputation as teachers, we can't be teachers that don't know its field of expertise, a teacher that do not know betters ways to teach… we got to train to be innovative and competent in our field.
All this does not mean that we will give up on others areas of our lives to dedicate our life to study, this means, to give more importance to our learning and as an English student teacher, this means to improve our language skills every day at least a little, considering that we are learning an L2 in a country where we are not in touch with it, I think students should from the beginning of its career do this and learn grammar to know the right way to use the language (this not mean we'll teach just grammar). As online English teachers, we should take into account all this, but adding that we need to pay attention also to the web 2.0 that the teachers present to us, try to discover new tools to work online and discover concepts of the teaching online because we can find different ways to teach online and organize our teaching, for example, there exist a concept PLE that is accurate for online teaching.
